The SFPA is at work on your behalf in Washington DC with members of the American Fruit & Vegetable Processors and Growers Coalition. The mission of the Coalition is:
“To educate and represent to Members of Congress and other policy makers about issues important to growers and processors of America’s processed fruit and vegetable industry.”
Here are issues important to our members:
1. General Agriculture Policy as it relates to fruits and vegetables for processing
2. Promotion of processed foods (canned, frozen, dried and brined) in government food assistance programs
3. Seasonal labor availability
4. Shelf stable and the economic advantages of processed fruits and vegetables
5. Food safety qualities of processed fruit and vegetable foods
6. Necessity to plant and harvest processing fruits and vegetables on lands in any state without encumberments of federal farm policy
7. Supplier industry issues (steel, cans and food ingredient supply costs)
8. Child nutrition regulations in the school lunch program
9. Other issues as they arise
